Ishan Heru currently serves as the Chief Impact Officer for Community Connections, a non-profit organization based in Washington D.C. that offers comprehensive services such as behavioral healthcare, housing assistance, homeless services and workforce development.

The programs in his purview provide new construction permanent supportive housing for veterans and adults, Rapid Re-Housing and Workforce Development for young adults, and Outreach Services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.​

He is Mayoral appointed Full Member of DC Interagency Council on Homelessness. He has extensive experience in advocacy and policy development at both the local and federal level, currently serving as the Housing Committee Chairperson for the Cooperation for Non-Profit Housing and Economic Development.

Dedicated to his community, he also serves as a board member for Barracks Row Main Street.
